College photojournalists enter single photographs, multiple-image photo stories and multimedia projects that document breaking news, sports and public issues as well as portraits and illustration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 500 students representing&nbsp;120 colleges from 17 countries participated in the 73rd annual College Photographer of the Year competition. &nbsp;A selection of the winning photos are being exhibited in the McDougall Center for Photojournalism through&nbsp;April 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"right\">\n<div id=\"story\">\n<p>The College Photographer of the Year Competition was founded by Cliff and Vi Edom in 1945. The University of Missouri administers the contest with continuing support from its co-sponsor, Nikon Inc., whose generosity allows CPOY to offer free entry to college students worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) administers the Colonel William J. Lookadoo and the Milton Freier Memorial Awards in conjunction with CPOY. In 2005, National Geographic Magazine returned as a contributing sponsor and offers an internship to the Gold winner in the Portfolio category.
